The
Pediatric Asthma Work Group of NEPHMCC, which included particpation
of more than 50 people from public health, health plans, and other organizations
across New England, developed recommendations in June 2000. Entitled
"Children with Asthma Can Lead Fully Active, Normal Lives,"
the goal of the recommendations is to "enhance the quality of life
and reduce morbidity and mortality for children with symptomatic or
inadequately controlled asthma." These recommendations are consistent
with National Asthma Education and Prevention Program (NAEPP)/National
Heart Blood and Lung Institute (NHBLI) guidelines.
